A frantic search took place in Warrington last night after police were alerted to three youths possibly armed with a gun.
Local officers, a firearms unit and a police helicopter were deployed to Orford area at around 7.10pm after receiving reports of the gang on Mardale Avenue. They searched the scene, but were unable to find anyone.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said the force now believes the "gun" may have been a fake.

They said: "After reviewing footage it is believed that the youths were possibly in possession of a BB gun.
"There were no reports that the firearm was discharged and there were no reports of any injuries."
