Liverpool are "seriously interested" in signing Mason Mount from Chelsea in the summer transfer window as his contract talks continue to stall.
Mount's current deal at Stamford Bridge runs out in 2024 and despite lengthy negotiations over fresh terms, and despite both the player and the club wanting a positive resolution, an agreement is nowhere near close.
Chelsea are keen on securing the 24-year-old for a further seven years - something he is not said to be happy about, according to football.london.
The ECHO's sister website also also report that Liverpool are '"leading the way" for Mount, who wants a salary to match his importance in Graham Potter's squad, amid interest from Manchester City and Manchester United.
They write: "A source has told football.london that the Reds are seriously interested in the England international and are preparing to make a move for the midfielder in the summer should the situation remain unsolved. Liverpool believe they can lure Mount to Anfield and will be trying to do so on a cut-price deal with a year remaining on his deal by the time the summer transfer window opens."

The ECHO's Paul Gorst wrote about Liverpool's interest in Mount during a transfer bulletin earlier today: "The England international's contract expires in the summer of 2024 and given the drastic influx of players at Stamford Bridge in the two transfer windows of Todd Boehly's ownership to date, Mount is reportedly considering his options. At 24 and in possession of homegrown status, the attacking midfielder is someone who could appeal."
Chelsea are believed to be demanding £50m if they are to part ways with their Player of the Year for the past two seasons.
When quizzed on Mount's future recently, Chelsea boss Potter said: "I know it is an important time for him and an important contract. These things have to be right for him and his family. It's important he makes a decision on that basis.
"My feelings for Mason are clear. He is a fantastic person firstly, but sometimes these things happen. They are just complicated and it is best that I speak little about it, let them get on with it in deciding what is right for both parties."
