Stan Collymore believes Mason Mount should join Liverpool to take his career to the next level. Uncertainty has surrounded the Chelsea midfielder this season, with his contract set to expire in June.
Mount appeared destined for a lengthy career at Stamford Bridge but lavish spending since Todd Boehly’s arrival has raised questions about his long-term future. As it stands, N’Golo Kante, Enzo Fernandez and Mateo Kovacic are ahead of him in the central areas while Frank Lampard has an abundance of options out wide.
An abdomen injury has ruled the 24-year-old out in recent weeks, with no first-team start since February 3. Talk of a potential exit has since ramped up and Liverpool are among a host of Premier League clubs linked with his signature.

Losing Mount would be damning for Chelsea - a club who have faced criticism for stunting academy graduates’ growth. The midfielder would not be short of options should his 18-year stay at the Blues come to an end this summer.
Ex-Liverpool forward Collymore has urged Mount to join his former club - insisting doing so would be a “step up” for his career. He posted on social media: “I know Liverpool have been sniffing around Mason.
“If you’re putting two and two together and making 22 rather than four, the suggestion could be that he’s going to sign for Liverpool, the deal is already done and, as and when he signs for Liverpool and it becomes a fact on social media, Chelsea fans will have a pop at him. It’s his club and he’s been there a long, long, time. There were rumours Todd Boehly wanted to give him a new contract but I think going to Liverpool would be a step up.”
