The 2023 summer transfer window is almost open. That's right, it's not even open yet.
The internet would make you think differently because Chelsea's transfer activity has been dominating headlines online in recent days. We are now one week away from the transfer window officially opening – but the Blues are looking to conduct early business to give them a head start on their rivals.
So much has happened already, though, with Chelsea already holding talks with numerous players over a possible move to Stamford Bridge in the summer. The Blues got relatively close to signing Manuel Ugarte from Sporting CP at the weekend, but Paris Saint-Germain increased their offer and Chelsea then pulled out of a move for the Uruguay international.
Now, Chelsea have turned their attention to Moises Caicedo of Brighton & Hove Albion, football.london understands. The Seagulls, however, are notoriously tough negotiators and with plenty of interest in the Ecuadorian from elsewhere, a move will not be straightforward, but Chelsea are expected to push for the midfielder's signature.
Chelsea are also working on offloading over 10 players this summer with some of the current squad looking almost certain to leave. The club are focusing on giving Mauricio Pochettino, who begins his role as head coach at the beginning of next month, the best-possible squad in time for his debut season at Stamford Bridge.
