It hasn't taken long for Mason Mount to go from hero to villain in the eyes of Chelsea fans.
An academy graduate at the Blues, Mount finally ended months of speculation last week when he left his boyhood club for Manchester United for an initial £55million fee. But upon sealing his transfer, he posted a video message to the Stamford Bridge faithful.
Explaining his message of gratitude, he said: "Given the speculation over the last couple of months, this may not come as a surprise to you that I've made the decision to leave Chelsea. I feel you deserve more than just a written statement."
Any lingering goodwill seemingly evaporated on Friday though, when @UtdPlug uploaded footage on Twitter of Mount, 24, visiting the United dressing room for the first time. He was accompanied by father Tony, who revealed he had taken his son there when he was only young.
"Mason, this dressing room man, home mate, HOME," said Mount Snr. "Who would have thought aye, when I brought you up here as a little boy?" Mount replied: "I know. Special isn't it."
The clip has not been well received by Chelsea fans, who piled in after the @UberChelseaFC_ account retweeted the post with the comment: "He’s now officially in the Courtois books by the way." The reference was in relation to their former keeper beating the Madrid badge on his chest when he returned to Stamford Bridge last season.

@PopSarah weighed in with: "Mount is worse than Thibaut Courtois who was moving for family reasons to be close to his kids. It wasn’t about money or disrespecting Chelsea, even though it was pretty terrible losing him."
@cfc17huzzle added: "I forgave Courtois. He went to the biggest club on earth to be close to his family. This guy's trait is on another level," while @Sriramonomics did try and provide some reason, arguing: "Umm, Tony Mount, Mason's father is a huge Man Utd fan, obviously he’d be chuffed to see his son in that shirt."
Mount made 195 senior appearances for Chelsea, scoring 33 times. He seemed to hold cult hero status at Stamford Bridge after helping the club to their unlikely 2020/21 Champions League triumph.
