Mason Mount 'free to leave Chelsea' as Liverpool handed potential transfer boost

Liverpool may have been handed a major boost as reports of interest in Mason Mount continue to grow.

The Reds are being heavily linked with a move for the Chelsea midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window. Mount’s current contract situation has seen him also linked with a host of other Premier League clubs.

Mount’s current deal at Stamford Bridge is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Reports have suggested that the club and the 24-year-old’s representatives are yet to agree on fresh terms over an extension.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea have now told Mount that he is free to find another club and will leave the Londoners this summer.

It has been reported that Mount’s wage demands are too high for Chelsea to meet, with a weekly wage of £180,000 apparently being offered. But it has been stated that the midfielder would want a salary in the region of £250,000.

The report does not stop there, with Liverpool also mentioned. It has been claimed that Mount is a big fan of Jurgen Klopp, and would “jump at the chance” to move to Anfield.

Liverpool are not alone in being linked with a move for Mount. The likes of Manchester United and Newcastle have also been credited with an interest in the midfielder.
