Mason Mount breaks silence with four-word Chelsea message after Man United transfer U-turn

Chelsea star Mason Mount has taken to social media to wish another farewell from the club as the mass exodus of players continues. Ahead of a soft June 30 deadline for selling first team members to try and balance the books, the Blues are set to offload six of their squad in rapid fashion.

Edouard Mendy is close to moving to Saudi Arabia while Hakim Ziyech and Kalidou Koulibaly join him in being sold. N'Golo Kante has also made for the exit door to the Saudi Pro League atfer his contract wasn't renewed. Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic are now destined for Arsenal and Manchester City respectively.

Whilst this has been happening, Mount has been in talks with Manchester United over a proposed move from Stamford Bridge. He has just 12 months left on his own contract and has been expected for months to either sign and extension or be sold.

After three bids made from Old Trafford, all of which have been rejected and countered by Chelsea, the 24-year-old's future is as uncertain as ever. With mixed messages coming from all three parties, the player will now be entering a period of limbo as he plots the next stage of his career.

He is far from the only player in this position, with Christian Pulisic also waiting for further comfirmation as to what is next in his story. Romelu Lukaku and Conor Gallagher are also in a state of uncertainty heading into the month of pre-season.

For now, though, they can be certain that they will not be playing with Koulibaly at SW6 next season as his transfer was confirmed by the club on Sunday. After joining for £35 million ($44.5m) last summer, he is now going to be one of the new stars of Al-Hilal.

In a farewell message to Chelsea fans, the Senegal centre-back wrote: "From my first game to my last, it was an honour to wear this badge.

"Last season wasn’t the one we wanted, but I want to thank the fans and everyone at the club for your support."

Having been one of the big-name summer signings in the first Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital window, the 32-year-old leaves having failed to truly get to speed with the Premier League but recoups a reasonable amount of cash for the club.

Despite errors throughout his sole season in England, Koulibaly clearly made a big impact on his teammates with Reece James writing on Instagram: "What a guy. What a player. Gonna miss you big bro and my French lessons [tearful emojI]."

Meanwhile, Mount has also taken to the replies to Koulibaly's post, writing simply: "All the best brother!" It is the first time he has spoken out, even in such a form, since the latest reports regarding his future have surfaced. Now it waits to be seen if Mount will join Koulibaly in leaving the club.
