With many FIFA players finally getting their hands on FIFA 22 through EA Play's early access trial, fans have noticed that Mason Greenwood has finally had an updated face scan.
Players who subscribe to the EA Play service for Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 can play FIFA 22, over a week before the game's official worldwide and UK release date of Friday, October 1, 2021 for a 10-hour period, costing £3.99 per month (or £19.99 annually).
And after going the entirety of FIFA 21 without a face scan, Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood finally looks like himself in FIFA 22.
With EA Sports having a licensing deal with the Premier League, most of the United squad had extremely accurate face scans in FIFA 21, with the club's most popular players Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford, all looking very realistic.
But unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Greenwood was never able to receive his face scan, with an EA spokesperson exclusively telling MEN in February : "Due to the current global pandemic, unfortunately we haven’t been able to visit the training ground this year due to club restrictions on external party access.
"We were able to capture Brandon Williams’ head scan during a visit to Carrington in February 2020 but Mason [Greenwood] was unavailable to attend this session.”
Fans have noticed quite quickly that Greenwood has finally received a face scan in the game, making him look much better than his questionable appearance in FIFA 21.
So, with his new face scan, what does Greenwood look like in FIFA 22 compared to FIFA 21?

As you can see from the image above, the 19-year-old looks incredibly realistic in FIFA 22, especially when compared to FIFA 21.
The updated face scan has given EA the ability to get an accurate appearance of Greenwood, with the biggest and most defining changes visible in his face and his hair.
Greenwood has been one of United's standout players so far this season, with the England international having grabbed three goals in five Premier League games after nailing down a starting spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.
And with his appearance now much more realistic, it seems FIFA are still yet to get Greenwood just-right, with his rating in the new game only at 78 out of 99, giving United fans something new to complain about with the 19-year-old in FIFA 22.
Mason Greenwood was given a +1 overall upgrade to his FIFA 22 card after scoring 12 goals in all competitions last season, but for a player of such quality and potential, it's quite strange to see him receive such a minor upgrade.
In the United squad, he's rated the same as Juan Mata who only registered three goals and two assists last season. He's also rated lower than Jesse Lingard (79), Anthony Martial (81), and Fred (81).
