Masked robbers brandished a machete and threatened a pair of cyclists while trying steal a bike from them.
Detectives are investigating the shocking incident, which was reported at 1.45pm on Monday. A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said a woman and a man were cycling along Whitchurch Way in Halton Lodge when two men on an off-road electric bike began to follow them.
As the cyclists reached Cranage Close, the two balaclava-clad pursuers "kicked out at them". The spokeswoman said the pillion passenger on the e-bike pulled out a “bladed weapon” - described as a "machete" - and threatened them, but the victims fled deeper into Halton Lodge.
