The Masked Singer’s Knitting may have unwittingly revealed their own identity, with an off screen clue that will have immediately sent alarm bells ringing for anyone who watches the show and leave them even more convinced she is Steps star Claire Richards.
The ITV ratings winner made its return at the start of this month, as the celebrity panel and millions of viewers once again get into detective mode to answer the all important question - who’s that behind the mask?
Two big names have gone from the new series of The Masked Singer so far, football pundit icon Chris Kamara got the boot from the contest at the end of episode one, with music legend Lulu following him out the door last week.
One of the characters who shared a stage with Chris’ Ghost when the new series kicked off on New Year’s Day was Knitting. An eclectic mix of celebs saw their names guessed as being the eye catching act, including Cheryl, due to the magpie clue and the sight of 2022- the year she shot to fame on Popstars: The Rivals and Strictly star Helen Skelton.

Two other celebs linked to Knitting were Stacey Solomon and Sara Davies, due to a clue about crafting.
However, a star many viewers declared they were certain of being Knitting is Steps star Claire, with the magpie clue a nod to the group’s hit One for Sorrow; 2002 being the year she and bandmate H became H & Claire and a number mentioned in a riddle being the sum of 5,6,7,8.
And, with just hours to go until Knitting’s second performance on Saturday night, Claire posted something that may have just sealed the deal. While the mention of ‘crafting’ put a lot of people on the Stacey and Sara path, Claire is also a keen crafter and, on Saturday afternoon, posted a short video of her doing some crafting on her Instagram story, captioning it: "Happy Saturday! This is where I’ll be for the foreseeable”
Claire is a keen Masked Singer viewer so it could be that she deliberately threw a very public red herring into the mix, but, given many Steps again declared they recognized her voice straight away on Knitting’s debut, it looks likely she has given the game away."
Another clear hint that Knitting could be Claire was a clue from her latest VT on Saturday night that she wasn't trained in something she was very famous for, which is a clear nod to Steps' iconic dance routines.
