Masked Singer's Katherine Ryan 'given away' by Cheryl clue before big reveal on Pigeon's exit

Katherine Ryan managed to fool the Masked Singer panel, but her song choice proved to be her undoing as far as viewers at home were concerned, as they became adamant she was Pigeon before her exit on Saturday night.

Pigeon has definitely been one of the most entertaining characters in the new series of the ITV show, with hilarious performances of the likes of TLC's No Scrubs and Usher hit Hey Yeah, as the panel went back and forth with their guesses on who could be hiding inside the costume.

The Essex accent adopted by Pigeon had Mo Gilligan convinced for weeks that Pigeon was Gemma Collins but, having decided almost straight away that the voice was put on, armchair detectives at home starting thinking about the clues and decided that many of them pointed in the direction of comic and presenter Katherine.

Clues linking Pigeon to Katherine included: all the jewellery in one of Pigeon's VT, a nod to Katherine being host of BBC's All That Glitters: Britain's Next Top Jewellery Star; the word Title being on some bread and Katherine' stand up show is called Missus and perhaps one of the most obvious to date: Pigeon saying: "I'm good at asking questions," just as the camera homed in on a rich tea biscuit. This seems to be a clear reference to Katherine presenting How Do You Get So Rich.

Prior to the start of Saturday's Masked Singer, it was confirmed on social media that the latest episode would have 'hidden' clues, so viewers paid close attention to the songs performed by the characters. Pigeon sang a cover of Cheryl's Fight for This Love and, as soon as they clocked the traack, many people flocked to Twitter to say that 'sealed the deal' on Pigeon being Catherine.

And the reason why? Katherine has made a few gags about Cheryl in her stand up shows, including a headline-making one about the Geordie star's battle with malaria, in which she said: "Even God tried. Malaria! She won’t die. She’s a very strong woman."

Katherine revealed that link after removing her mask when Pigeon was voted off by the panel, ahead of Jacket Potato.
