Masked Singer fans are convinced they know identity of Jacket Potato

ITV Masked Singer viewers are convinced they know the identity of Jacket Potato after the character's first appearance on the show.

Masked Singer kicked off on ITV on Saturday night, with judges once again guessing the identities of the 12 mysterious costumed characters. The popular ITV series, hosted by Joel Dommett, sees a group of ‘unknown’ celebrities attempt to bamboozle Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and viewers at home.

One of the characters on this year’s series is Jacket Potato, who took on Fawn in their first appearance on the show.

Among the clues given by Jacket Potato were: "Like all good spuds, I'm smooth, creamy and occasionally baked." And they also pulled out cards saying 'Nosey Parker', 'Pig Face', 'Silly Billy' and 'Dog Nose'.

Jacket Potato's Riddle Me This clue was: "Hey it's me Jack, Jacket Potato. I've got quite the collection, so big, you'll say 'woah'."

The judges were very different in their guesses. Jonathan Ross thought that Jacket Potato was British actor Ray Winstone. He also said that Shane Richie could be behind the mask.

Rita Ora was convinced that Jacket Potato was an American. She suggested it was actor Mickey Rourke but also suggested TV antiques dealer David Dickinson. Mo Gilligan speculated that Jack Whitehall could be behind the mask, noticing that the character had called himself "Jack" in the clue segment. He also suggested that Sean Paul could be behind the mask. And Davina McCall suggested it could be Alex James from Blur.

And, like Jonathon Ross, fans also thought that EastEnders star Shane Richie was the man behind the mask. One wrote: "I've never been more sure that Jacket Potato is Shane Ritchie!" A second agreed and said: "This is Shane Richie all day". Fans weren't so sure on Fawn though, guessing between variously at Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton or Carol Vorderman. Later, many fans also agreed on the identity of Pigeon, agreeing with Davina McCall's guess.
