The man appeared to take aim at the building before running off but his face covering was removed a short distance away as seen by CCTV. No one was believed to be injured in the attack as police have launched an appeal, reports the Manchester Evening News.

It was at around 4pm on the Friday afternoon the incident took place with police in the area claiming it was a targeted attack and wanted to reassure the public.

Detective Superintendent Neil Jones, of South Manchester District, said: “Firstly, I want to speak directly to the community in and around the Wilmslow Road area. We appreciate how concerned you must be but we want to reassure you that we believe that this was a targeted attack.

“Since this occurred, we have increased patrols around the area and have employed additional Force resources whilst we locate this individual and keep the community safe.
