One contestant on the Masked Dancer is set to bow out early after injuring their ankle in a backstage fall.
Viewers will see the drama unfold during the latest episode of the ITV dance competition on Saturday, hosted by Joel Dommett.
As a result, three contestants will now be unmasked instead of the originally planned two.
While the injured party will not have the opportunity to dance again, judges Davina McCall, Johnathan Ross, Peter Crouch, and Oti Mabuse will still take a stab at trying to guess their identity before all is revealed.
A show insider told The Sun: “It’s really bad luck. ITV obviously aren’t revealing who the injured character is, they’ll wait for Saturday’s show.”
They added: “It’s ironic they got injured while they were not even wearing their crazy costume because the celebrities are barely out of them backstage.”
The Standard has contacted a representative for ITV for comment.
So far this series, four characters have been unmasked: Jesse Metcalfe (Astronaut), Joanna Page (Pig), Stacey Dooley (Prawn Cocktail), and Gareth Malone (Cactus).
