Irvine Meadow ace Conor O'Donnell reckons car sharing with his captain helped turn him into a Marymass derby matchwinner.
The 19-year-old was the toast of the blue half of Irvine on Friday night after his stunning stoppage-time free-kick clinched a dramatic 2-1 win against Irvine Vics.
But he admits it took an intervention from skipper Calum Gow to give him his shot at glory.
"I car share with Gowzer and had been telling him how I wasn't bad at free-kicks, said O'Donnell.
"So when the chance came, he put me on it.
"A few other boys were wanting to take it. I don't think they were too happy to be honest!
"I just fancied my chances and thankfully it went in."
O'Donnell, who moved to Meadow from Darvel in the summer, now wants to push on and cement his place in the team.
He added: "I started the previous two games so it's just about continuing to work hard and see how it goes."
