Mary Fowler and Nathan Cleary are the closest thing Australia has to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. They’re talented, hot and at the top of their game. But unlike Taylor and Travis, Mary wasn’t around to rush the field when Nathan and his team the Penrith Panthers claimed victory for the fourth time in a row. The Manchester City forward had much bigger fish to fry.
Back home in England, the football superstar was preparing for her game against West Ham. But that didn’t stop her from posting a sweet tribute to her boo on Instagram.
Following the nail-biting match which saw Penrith beat Melbourne Storm 14-16, Mary took to her IG Stories to share a picture of a victorious Nathan with the premiership trophy, triumphantly holding four fingers in the air.
“Him😍🔥,” she captioned the pic. Very short, sweet, demure and mindful.
Penrith are the third team in history to have nabbed four consecutive premierships after an impressive final game which was strewn with controversy. While there were many calls that received loud responses from the crowd, it was Storm player Cameron Munster being put on report for allegedly biting Penrith’s Paul Alamoti during a tackle that really got tongues wagging.
Of course, the Panthers ended up on top. The good luck must have rubbed off because Mary’s team Manchester City came out victorious in their match against West Ham too. The 21-year-old even nabbed a cheeky point from a header which slammed into the back of the net.
Nice one, hey?
Mary and Nathan started dropping hints that they were together in January this year, but speculation around their relationship first started around November 2023.
Just before the grand final, Nathan spoke about his girlfriend, in awe about how she handled her meteoric rise to fame following the Matildas’ brilliance in the World Cup.
“It’s something that we talk about quite often,” Nathan told The Sydney Morning Herald.
“I felt a bit sorry for Mary as well, just with her personal life being in the spotlight too and all the added attention. For her, it’s all blown up so quickly, just after the World Cup last year, then us two and all that.
“I’m always checking in on her, but she handles it well. It’s been a meteoric rise. But she’s very humble and has got a very good head on her shoulders.
“But sometimes it’s just good to have someone there to talk to.”
Most recently, Penrith Panthers fans were worried when rumours started circulating that Nathan was considering moving to the UK and joining the Super League to be closer to Mary.
While neither Nathan nor Mary has commented on these rumours, I feel like now Nathan’s nabbed the fourth win, he’ll be gunning for another opportunity to lead his team into a fifth victory for the Panthers.
