Mary Earps reveals message from fellow Man United goalkeeper David de Gea after helping England reach final

England goalkeeper Mary Earps has revealed Manchester United No1 David de Gea sent her a congratulatory message after the Lionesses made the final of Euro 2022.

England beat Sweden 4-0 on Tuesday night in their semi-final to setup a showdown with Germany at Wembley on Sunday.

Earps, who plays her club football for Manchester United, was in fine form against the Swedes and made several fine saves to keep them at bay.

The goalkeeper enjoys a good relationship with De Gea and has revealed he messaged her after the win at Bramall Lane.

“Obviously at Man United he (De Gea) is really supportive of the women’s game,” said Earps.

“Me and David speak a little bit. He’s just messaged me saying congratulations. We message back and forth about results and clean sheets and stuff so that’s always nice to have his support.

“I think it’s really important as a keeper that you develop your own style because not everything works.

“You might see something on TV but it may or may not work for you; everyone’s built differently, we have different strengths.

“I think it’s just about trying to give your all, work towards your strengths and put in your best performance every week.”
