Marvin Mims excited to team up with Broncos QB Russell Wilson

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is coming off a down season, but he still has an impressive overall resume that includes a Super Bowl title and a 40-touchdown season in 2020.

Denver hopes that new coach Sean Payton can help Wilson return to his old form in 2023, and new wide receiver Marvin Mims is excited to team up with the quarterback.

“[Wilson] is one of the great quarterbacks in the game right now, so just to be able to get paired up with him and learn from him — Xs and Os, life and little things within the game — is a huge opportunity,” Mims said.

While playing for the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson perfected a “moon ball,” and Mims believes he’s the perfect fit to be on the receiving end of those deep passes in 2023.

“I’m really excited,” Mims said. “I feel like the deep ball is probably one of the strong points of my game. With his history, his past, the quarterback he is, and him being comfortable throwing the deep ball — that’s a huge thing he does. Just being able to fit that role — whatever my role is when I get there — that will be a huge plus for me and a plus for the team.”

Mims averaged 20.1 yards per catch at Oklahoma last fall, a statistical example of the kind of deep threat he brings to an offense. If Wilson has a bounce-back season this year, the QB could form a dangerous deep connection with Mims.
