Marvin Bartley has blasted the officiating in Denmark’s Nations League clash with Portugal following an injury to Celtic’s Kasper Schmeichel.
The focus of Bartley’s outburst was a late offside decision by the assistant referee which led to a painful shoulder injury for the Danish keeper.
After diving to save a shot from Liverpool’s Diogo Jota in extra-time, the 38-year-old landed awkwardly but was forced to play on through the pain as Denmark had used up all their substitutions.
With Celtic now waiting to learn the full extent of Schmeichel’s injury, pundit Marvin Bartley believes the incident could have been avoided entirely.

Posting on X shortly after the game, Bartley expressed his disbelief that the officials allowed play to continue for so long despite a clear offside:
“Kasper Schmeichel does his shoulder as the assistant ref doesn’t put his flag up for a blatant offside and he ends up trying to save it. Now screaming every time he has to dive! 🤦🏾♂️
“Mate, I get the rule if it’s close. That wasn’t! Especially as he had the halfway line as a blatant guide! Shambles.”

Danish team doctor Morten Boesen today revealed the 113-times capped keeper will get further tests.
He said: "Kasper Schmeichel's left shoulder was X-rayed last night and fortunately the images do not show anything abnormal.
"He is clearly in pain after a fall on his shoulder, so we are examining him further with an MRI scan."
