Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt has likened criticisms of his faith to those faced by Jesus in the Bible. The 43-year-old actor also quoted a verse from the Christian holy book when discussing religion.
Pratt was attending a special screening of Marvel's latest blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 in New York. There he was asked if he felt attacked over his religious views.
Responding to Page Six, he said: "I sure do but that’s nothing new, that’s nothing new, you know? If I was of this world, they would love me just like that but as it is, I’ve chosen out of this world. That’s John 15:18 through 20. That’s the way it is, nothing new, 2,000 years ago they hated him [Jesus], too."
The actor has faced a backlash after he was reported to belong to the Hillsong Church. The "megachurch" is allegedly an anti-LGBTQ+ establishment.
However, last year Pratt said he had never actually been to the venue. Several other high-profile celebrities including Kendall and Kylie Jenner are also said to have attended services at the Los Angeles church.
