Marvel Rivals is set to add The Thing and Human Torch, bringing the total number of Heroes up to 37. They join their other Fantastic Four cohorts, rounding out Season One in style. Even better, we've now seen full breakdowns of how each character will work, alongside some info on when they're going to be added.
Alongside the arrival of these two new Heroes, there will also be new rewards to earn in Marvel Rivals ranked mode. The game's high quality of competitive modes definitely makes it stand out from its competitors and is one of the main reasons it's already landed on our best crossplay games list.

Marvel Rivals The Thing and Human Torch release time
The Thing and Human Torch will be added to Marvel Rivals on February 21, 2025 at 4AM PST. Here's the specific timings for your timezone:
- February 21 at 4AM PST: West Coast US
- February 21 at 7AM EST: East Coast US
- February 21 at 12PM GMT: United Kingdom
- February 21 at 1PM CET: Central Europe
- February 21 at 9PM JST: Japan
On February 21 at 1AM PST / 4AM EST / 9AM GMT, Marvel Rivals will be taken offline for maintenance. This is expected to last three hours, which is what we're basing the timings above on. Of course, this could slip, so we'll be sure to update tomorrow with revised timings just in case.

Marvel Rivals will add The Thing on February 21, and we now know how he's going to work. Firstly, and as expected, he's a Vanguard. This means he's primarily a Tank character. with a lot of health and survivability. His Primary is a series of punches, similar to Hulk's. His secondary is a charged punch, which has a mid-range. Then there's a leap attack, which can be used to leap towards an ally, giving them some bonus health. The Thing can also charge forward, knocking enemies back as he collides with them. This move ends with a large smash attack.
Finally, we know that his Ultimate is Clobberin' Time. This sees The Thing smashing the ground, sending nearby enemies up into the air.

Now for Human Torch. This Hero can fly, and is found in the Duelist category of characters. He can fire flame projectiles from a great height, and slam down, knocking enemies back. One of his powers increases fire rate of his projectiles, and his Ultimate is used to launch flaming tornados down at the enemy team. This can be used alongside Storm's Ultimate to create a giant flaming tornado.

Human Torch is not currently available in Marvel Rivals. This is set to change on February 21, 2025, with the arrival of the midseason update.
Will The Thing and Human Torch be free?
So far, every Hero in Marvel Rivals has been free to play. We don't expect this to change for The Things and Human Torch. It's also worth noting that at the beginning of Season One, Mr Fantastic, and Invisible Woman were added immediately for all players. If this pattern continues, expect to load up the game after the midseason update on February 21, 2025, and be able to select The Thing and Human Torch.
