"Marvel Rivals" drew significant attention last month when NetEase Games was rumored to allegedly place fake heroes in game files to deceive tipsters. This is to confuse leakers about what's real and not in the actual files.
While many leaks focus on the game's increasingly flashy character skins, recent discoveries hint at something far more exciting—a potential PvE mode featuring an enormous squid-like boss battle.

For weeks now, two big "Marvel Rivals" leakers, @RivalsLeaks and @RivalsInfo, have been dropping hints that "Marvel Rivals" will get a PvE mode.
Potential PvE Mode for Marvel Rivals? ‼️🔥
— Rivals - Leaks & Info (@RivalsLeaks) January 6, 2025
Some time ago, I was informed by a source that they had experienced a PvE mode in the game. Today, @RivalsInfo found a tag suggesting PvE might still be in development.
It's unclear if this feature has been scrapped or if it's planned... pic.twitter.com/OfDSR4Jv22
One leaker claimed that from an unnamed "source," the other cited in-game files, which contain player-versus-environment-related tags.
Today, more solid proof has been spotted. @RivalsInfo and @X0X_LEAK have published a leaked video where a gigantic squiddy-like monster is featured—a boss enemy to an unreleased mode called "Infinity Crisis".
It's 1:1 the Store asset as of right now🤔

we gonna keep track of it, if they will change/replace the model and there's still some unused stuff related to the Boss like an AOE attack.
Until than enjoy the goofy ingame look at it.

This could be Marvel's Monstro or another iconic sea beast as fans speculate over the massive tentacled boss in the leaked footage. Some are saying it is Monstro, the Menace from the Murky Depths, an evil radioactive octopus that first arose in Tales of Suspense.
Another theory suggests it might be another iconic Marvel sea creature, the franchise has seen its fair share of tentacled beasts throughout its history.
Marvel's comics have featured countless monstrous creatures, from Conan's deep-sea foes to the bizarre crossover where pirate-themed Spider-Man (Web-Beard) battled a sea beast in Ultimate Spider-Man. Until more official details emerge, fans can only speculate on what this boss will look like in its final form.
Placeholder Asset Hints at Future Content
As per PC Gamer, the leaked footage seems to use a placeholder model, so the final version of this tentacled terror could look significantly different. However, the presence of this PvE boss fight in the game's files suggests that "Marvel Rivals" is actively working on a cooperative mode that could set it apart from other hero-based shooters.
'Marvel Rivals' PvE Mode vs. 'Overwatch 2's PvE Failure
If "Marvel Rivals" introduces a full-fledged PvE mode, it could be a major win for the game—especially in light of "Overwatch 2's" PvE cancellation. Blizzard's highly anticipated PvE content was scrapped, leaving many "Overwatch" fans disappointed.
This could also be a way to give frustrated "Overwatch" players a new hero-based shooter to rally behind.
A story-driven PvE mode could introduce co-op gameplay, raid-style boss fights, and deeper engagement with Marvel's universe. However, until NetEase has no official confirmation about it, just take this leak with a grain of salt.
Earlier this year, "Marvel Rivals" apologized to some players who did not actually engage in cheating. The false ban annoyed many players especially those who despised cheaters.
