Marvel reveals its long-awaited Fantastic Four cast with a fun Valentine’s Day graphic

It’s been five years since Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige announced the Fantastic Four was finally coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. Now on Valentine’s Day of 2024, we finally know who will be playing Marvel’s “first family” and when the film will hit theaters.

Accompanied by a snazzy new logo with a 1960’s aesthetic (perhaps suggesting the time period in which the film will be set?), Marvel dropped a graphic featuring the new cast as well as the film’s official release date of July 25, 2025.

Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon-Moss Bachrach and Joseph Quinn will take on the roles for the MCU.

Marvel Studios has a lot riding on this movie after a disappointing 2023 at the box office followed by strike-related delays that have led to a lull in their normal breakneck pace of new releases. Let’s take a closer look at the cast for one of the MCU’s most important movies to date.

This soft-voiced heartthrob has built his career around big-budget genre work, from his breakout role as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones to his star turn in The Mandalorian. Reed Richards is one of Marvel’s most complex heroes, the world’s smartest man who also plays a fatherly role in the Fantastic Four’s family dynamic.

Kirby made her first big splash as the tumultuous Princess Margaret on The Crown and her career has taken off quickly since. She has become a regular feature of the Mission: Impossible franchise as the mysterious White Widow and earned an Oscar nomination for her performance in Pieces of a Woman in 2020.

Kirby will play Sue Storm, the girlfriend (and eventually wife) of Reed Richards and older sister of Johnny Storm. As her nickname suggests, Sue has the power to become invisible but over the years comic book writers have also given her the ability to create force fields, perfect for protecting her friends and family.

Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm a.k.a. The Human Torch

Quinn has been working in British television for years but rocketed to heart-throb status after his role in Season 4 of Stranger Things as unlikely hero Eddie Munson.

Quinn can put that experience playing a bad-boy-with-a-good-heart to good use as Johnny Storm, the trouble-making, cocky little brother of the team who enjoys the fame that comes with his superpowers a little too much.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm a.k.a. The Thing

Best known for his role as Cousin Richie on The Bear, Moss-Bachrach has had a number of roles in some of the most highly-praised TV shows of the last decade including Girls, The Punisher, and Andor. Moss-Bachrach will play Ben Grimm, a gruff but lovable astronaut who is transformed into a rock-like creature and earns the nickname The Thing. Despite his rough exterior, The Thing is the sensitive and protective big brother figure in the family.
