Marvel Phase 5: every new MCU movie and Disney Plus show that'll be released by mid-2025

Daredevil standing a rooftop at night in Daredevil: Born Again.

Marvel Phase 5 has almost come to an end. Indeed, its final three projects are due to land in theaters and on Disney Plus by late June, so there's no time like the present to find out what we know about this Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) phase's line-up of new movies and TV shows.

In this guide, you'll find more details on this group's final few productions, including their release dates, cast lists, story synopses, trailers, and more. Light to mid-spoilers are discussed from this point onwards, so consider this to be your one and only warning.

Marvel Phase 5: every upcoming movie and TV show

Here's a list of the three remaining Marvel Phase 5 movies and shows that'll arrive over the next few months.

For the time being, I've included Ironheart as part of this line-up because I'm unsure whether it'll bookend MCU Phase 5 or kickstart Phase 6. Once I know more, I'll either keep it here or move it to my Marvel Phase 6 hub.

Marvel Phase 5 movies

Thunderbolts*

Release date: May 2, 2025
Director: Jake Schreier
Confirmed cast: Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah-John Kamen, Lewis Pullman, Olga Kurylenko, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Billed as an anti-hero Avengers-style film, Thunderbolts* (don't ask about the asterisks) will be Marvel Phase 5's final flick. This MCU movie rode out its long-gestating creative storm to start filming in late March and surprisingly wrapped production just three months later.

Stan's Bucky Barnes, Dreyfus' Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Pugh's Yelena Belova, Harbour's Red Guardian, Kurylenko's Taskmaster, Russell's US Agent, and Kamen's Ghost are all set to feature. Newcomer wise, Viswanathan will reportedly play Fontaine's right-hand person, while Top Gun: Maverick's Lewis Pullman is playing Bob Reynolds/Sentry.

Thunderbolts' first trailer dropped in September 2024, one month after Thunderbolts' D23 Expo 2024 teaser was leaked online. Then, last November, a new special look video was debuted at D23 Brazil before Thunderbolts' final trailer was unveiled during Super Bowl LIX. The trio all show off the movie's political paranoia-laced vibes, its ragtag crew of assembled vigilantes and government agents fighting with and against one another, and proving that it'll be as amusing as it is melodramatic and action-packed.

Marvel Phase 5 TV shows

Daredevil: Born Again

Release date: March 4, 2025
Directors: Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson
Confirmed cast: Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Jon Bernthal, Ayelet Zuhrer, and Wilson Bethel

Daredevil: Born Again was in serious trouble after Marvel decided to give its a near-total overhaul in October 2023. However, our faith in Daredevil's MCU TV show was restored a few weeks later, with Dario Scardapane (The Punisher, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan) confirmed as its new head writer, and Moorhead and Benson (Loki season 2, Moon Knight) directing it.

This Marvel Phase 5 TV show is now a direct sequel to the Daredevil series that originally ran on Netflix from 2015 to 2018. Numerous actors are returning to play the same characters, including Cox, who initially returned as the titular vigilante in live-action MCU projects Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Echo, as well as animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. D'Onofrio, who's also reprised his role as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in two MCU productions, is also part of the cast alongside fellow returnees in Henson, Woll, Bernthal, Zuhrer, and Bethel

As part of an 85th birthday celebration video, Marvel revealed an official first look at Born Again in late August before 20 more seconds were shown in Marvel's 2025 TV line-up video. Finally, Born Again's first trailer was released publicly in mid-January – two days after D'Onofrio said it had been delayed due to the LA wildfires.

Ironheart

Riri Williams will star in her own TV show in June (Image credit: Marvel Studios)

Release date: June 24, 2025
Directors: Samantha Bailey and Angela Barnes
Main cast: Dominique Thorne and Anthony Ramos

This Marvel Phase 5 crime-centric TV show will see Thorne's Riri Williams/Ironheart star in her own MCU project, which is slated to arrive in mid-2025. It's been written by Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer) and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is one of Ironheart's executive producers.

Ramos (In The Heights) will play Parker Robbins, aka The Hood, who specializes in dark magic. There are rumors Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) will portray Mephisto, a previously rumored WandaVision villain. Shared after Marvel's D23 Expo 2024 panel, Disney revealed a first hint at its plot, which reads: "Ironheart pits technology against magic when Riri Williams – a young, genius inventor determined to make her mark on the world – returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins, aka 'The Hood'."

Like Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart's first-look footage, which showed Williams flying through some Chicago traffic in her Iron Man-inspired supersuit was teased in Marvel's 85th anniversary celebration video. The studio's latest Look Ahead teaser treated us to 15 brand-new seconds, too, including official looks at Ramos' antagonist and Williams' new white and silver super-suit.

Marvel Phase 6: every announced movie so far
