Marvel actor Jeremy Renner suffers "blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries" after snow plowing accident

Actor Jeremy Renner, known for movies like S.W.A.T and 28 Weeks Later, has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries due to a snow plowing accident, a spokesperson for the actor said Monday evening.

“Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families. They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans,” said the statement.

What happened?

The actor suffered injuries after the safety feature on the snow plowing machine failed. It rolled over his legs causing serious injury.

The plowing machine is a truck sized vehicle known as Snowcat.

As per reports, the actor was clearing a path out of his home at Lake Tahoe near Nevada. According to The Hollywood Reporter Jeremy owns property near Mt Rose-Ski Tahoe, an area near Reno, Nevada.

He was alone when the machine ran over him.

He has suffered a massive amount of blood loss, reports say.

As per TMZ, Jeremy was about a quarter mile away from his home when the accident happened.

Medical treatment

One of his neighbors, a doctor, placed a tourniquet over his legs immediately. Reports say his injuries are 'extensive'.

He was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition.

So far, he has undergone two surgeries.

Jeremy is immensely popular for playing Hawkeye in several Marvel movies. The second season of his series “Mayor of Kingstown” is releasing on January 15. He was nominated for Oscars, twice-- one each for his role in "The Hurt Locker" and "The Town."

On December 13, he tweeted a photo of a car buried in snow. He had captioned the picture as "Lake Tahoe snowfall is no joke"

A news release from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the accident as a “traumatic injury” in the area of Mount Rose Highway in Reno.

In his holiday highlights reels on Instagram he has shared pictures of Snowcat. In one of the pics the vehicle was buried under snow.
