Marvel actor Jeremy Renner’s family ‘thrilled with his progress’ after snowplow accident

The family of Marvel actor Jeremy Renner is “so thrilled with his progress” after he was badly injured in a snowplow accident on New Year’s Day, his sister said Tuesday.

Renner was hospitalized in intensive care after his snowplow ran over him near his Reno-area home, according to officials.

“If anyone knows Jeremy, he is a fighter and doesn’t mess around,” sister Kym Renner told People. “He is crushing all the progress goals. We couldn’t feel more positive about the road ahead.”

Renner, who plays the superhero Hawkeye in the Marvel movies and shows, underwent surgery last week after suffering blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries, his rep said.

The actor, 51, has shared multiple uplifting messages in the days since, including one thanking fans for their support two days after the incident.

Renner had stepped outside the snowplow when it began moving on its own and was injured when he attempted to stop it, the Washoe County sheriff said last week.

“We do not suspect any foul play,” Sheriff Darin Balaam said. “We believe this was a tragic accident.”

Renner debuted as the arrow-shooting Hawkeye in 2011′s “Thor” and has repeatedly appeared in Marvel projects since, including playing the central character in the 2021 Disney+ series “Hawkeye.”

“Come on partner!!! Thank God you’re healing,” Hailee Steinfeld, who co-starred in “Hawkeye,” wrote last week on Instagram. “We are sending you love and prayers for a speedy recovery.”
