Martine McCutcheon shares cryptic post about 'no longer abandoning myself' after Jack McManus split

Martine McCutcheon shared a cryptic post online about relationships after her husband Jack McManus broke his silence about their split.

On Thursday the actress, 48, shocked fans by announcing that their 12-year marriage had ended—and it was McManus’s decision. When asked about the situation, he insisted that his wife had explained everything in her social media statement.

Speaking from their £1.5million Surrey home which is currently on the market, he told the MailOnline: “There's nothing more to add. I will not be saying anything more about this.”

It was revealed that the pair quietly put their five-bedroom family home in Surrey on the market in May, hinting that all was not as rosy as it appeared on social media.

McManus’s aunt said that the couple decided to separate two months ago, shortly after the house went on the market.

Following the report, McCutcheon took to her Instagram Story on Friday to reshare a reel from Alex Elle, who spoke about choosing people “who are sure about me” and no longer “abandoning myself to get other people to stay in this season of my life”.

She wrote alongside the clip: “I love this lady. @alex_elle soothing, gentle voice, softly reminding us of our own strength, value, love and true worth.”

In the video, Elle, a US-based wellness coach and author, poignantly begins: “The older I get, the less time I have for people who are unsure about me.

“I need people in my life who are certain, people who want to be there, people who make space for me to show up fully like I make space for them to do the same.”

The author adds: “We all deserve to have people in our lives who want to be in connection with us who want to share space and who feel good doing so. I spent a lot of my 20s walking on eggshells in hopes to be loved, well received and liked.

“I would abandon myself just to get other people to stay in this season of my life. I am choosing people who choose me. I am choosing people who are sure about me.

“I am choosing people who do not have to second guess whether I belong or not.

“If there's anything I've learned recently, it is that reciprocity and care move mountains in our relationships, and we all deserve to be seen, feel safe and be supported by those we are choosing to be in relationships with. Okay?”

Alongside the reel, Elle captioned the post, which connected with McCutcheon: “Mid-thirties hits so different… The back and forth, the uncertainty, the emotional games and rigamarole are a no for me—an easeful BUT full body, no.

“Giving and receiving clarity in relationships is my love language. Community, what would you tell your younger selves about this?”

The British star’s latest social media update comes after she announced her and McManus’s split after 18 years.

The couple, who married in a romantic ceremony at Italy's Lake Como in 2012, had been together for five years before tying the knot and share a nine-year-old son, Rafferty.

Despite the split, McCutcheon, who is currently on holiday in Marbella with their son, expressed her support for McManus, stating that she and Rafferty will always "root for" him in the future.

Taking to her Instagram Story on Thursday, the Love Actually star penned: “After much thought and consideration, Jack has decided it's best for us to separate after 18 years together and I accept his decision.”

She continued: “We are both so very blessed and grateful for our beautiful, 9 year old son Rafferty, who's happiness and welfare, has always been, and will continue to be, our number 1 priority.

“We both of course, still cherish and look forward to being parents together to our wonderful boy for the rest of our lives... Whilst this decision has evolved over a period of time, we are still finding our new way forward as a family and kindly ask for some privacy at this time... Especially for our little boy.

“Our love for Rafferty, is something that will never, waver, or change and we obviously want to protect him and help him feel as safe and secure as possible.

“Many thanks in advance for your respect and support, at this difficult time... And I continue to send Jack, all the love, luck and happiness for the next chapter of his. Rafferty and I (as always,) are rooting for you!

“Thank you all, for the love and support, now and always...Martine.xx.”

Fans were stunned by the announcement, especially since it came just three weeks after she posted a heartfelt birthday message to McManus on August 4, where she mentioned he was grieving the loss of his father.
