Te Maire Martin is expected to cap a remarkable comeback to the NRL by being named at fullback for Brisbane's clash with Canterbury on Friday.
Martin last played for North Queensland in 2019, before a bleed on the brain forced him into retirement.
The 26-year-old has since made a return to action at Queensland Cup level and is expected to fill in for the injured Tesi Niu.
Tyson Gamble returns at five-eighth for the game against the Bulldogs to partner halfback Adam Reynolds.
Billy Walters and Cory Paix will share hooking duties with Jake Turpin out with injury.
"What happened to his (Martin's) head and that, it's good to have him back playing footy," Brisbane lock Kobe Hetherington said.
"He looks good at training and he's looking fit too."
The change of spine will be the 15th deployed by Kevin Walters since he took charge of the Broncos last season.
