Funner, California is gearing up for a new mayor as comedian Martin Short is set to take on the role following in the footsteps of past officials such as Rob Riggle, David Hasselhoff, and Jane Lynch. Short, known for his role in 'Only Murders in the Building,' will be inaugurated as the small town's mayor for the next two years.
In a statement, Short expressed his commitment to being more than just a spokesperson, aiming to be the best mayor in the state. He plans to enhance the fun factor at Harrah's Resort SoCal, the heart of Funner, and share his vision with the constituents in the coming weeks.
Funner, originally named by the Rincon Tribe in 2016, is dedicated to promoting fun in every aspect of the town, especially within the Harrah's Resort SoCal premises. Short will collaborate with the city council, led by Jill Barrett, the senior vice president, and general manager of Harrah’s Resort SoCal, to elevate the town's fun quotient as its fourth mayor.
The inauguration of Martin Short is scheduled for May 13, where he will receive the key to Funner and unveil his plans for the city. As part of the ceremony, Short will take an oath to safeguard fun, laughter, and positive vibes from any negative influences that may threaten the town's joyful atmosphere.
