A Homes Under The Hammer star says he has made an “extraordinary” discovery whilst burying the ashes of his late father. Martin Roberts took to Instagram to share their emotional moment with his fans.
The 59 year old told his 22,400 followers this morning, Monday, May 1: “We buried Dad’s ashes yesterday. Thank you so much for all your love, kind words and suggestions on what to do with the ashes that wouldn’t fit in the casket."
With three heart emojis, he added: “Something truly wonderful happened in the end…” Martin explained in a follow-up video what had happened when he came to bury the last traces of his father, as he found not all of his ashes would fit into the “beautiful box” a friend had made, reports The Daily Express.

The emotional star said: "So listen, once again, what can I say? You have been absolutely amazing.
“Thank you so much for coming up with all your suggestions after my conundrum of what to do with the excess of dad’s ashes. Brilliant ideas.
"Absolutely brilliant. Some very, very funny ones as well,” he added with a chuckle. “You've got to read through the comments. Some of them are brilliant.”
Reading out light-hearted suggestions from some of his fans, Martin continued: “Put him in a tupperware box and a biscuit tin - those were some of my favourites. Fire him up in a rocket - that's a great one.”
The star went on to discuss his dad’s burial, which led to a poignant family discovery. He said: "We had the burial of the box yesterday and I’ve just got to tell you something absolutely extraordinary that happened.
“They dug a hole, a huge hole where mum's grave was and her ashes were buried. And so we put the casket at the bottom."
He continued: “And then I decided I'd get everybody who was there who wanted to scatter the rest of the remains in the plastic bag around, as lots of you suggested. So that's what we did, we scattered them around and that seemed like the best thing to do.
“And then everybody left and I was just left with the gravedigger and I said, ‘By the way, did you find mum's casket? Is it below where dad’s is?’ He said, ‘No. I found the remains of it on the way down when I was digging.’
“And he produces this plastic bag and says “here” and it contained mum’s ashes - from 20 years ago!” Following the revelation, Martin shared the sweet idea he had for his late parents, revealing he found a way for them to be together forever.
He said: “So you know what I did? I got those ashes and I mixed them with dad's ashes in his casket, so that they are forever entwined.
“So all the stuff that was around the casket, I mixed mum's ashes with it, and the stuff that was in the casket. I mixed it like cement.
"Dad would love that because he was into his DIY. So I mixed their ashes together and we buried them both there. It was just amazing really.
"Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for all your kind words. It means so much.” Martin shared the sad news of his father’s death last month on Twitter, thanking fans for their support after he admitted he had been feeling “really alone”.
