Martin Roberts breaks down in emotional video as he reveals death of his dad

Martin Roberts has shared a heart-wrenching video with his social media followers. The Home Under the Hammer presenter broke down in tears as he announced the death of his father in an emotional clip.

The 59-year-old looked heartbroken as he started the video by saying he wasn't sure he should be sharing such personal news but told followers that "people deal with things in different ways".

Martin said through tears: "This is a very private thing but I kind of just need to surround myself with as many people as I can who care right now...so I consider you my friends." Taking a pause, Martin then explained his dad had passed away aged 90.

He said: "My dad died yesterday, he was 90 and he had a great life and erm...he died peacefully, he died at home and he wasn't in pain so that's great. But it doesn't... well it does help, but it doesn't help right now.

"The loss of a parent is something we all have to deal with, and there's much worse losses I know - the loss of a child and stuff like that - but right now I feel really alone and horrible. So any words you've got would be appreciated."

He then took a few deep breaths before emotionally adding: "Thank you for being there anyway." The television star was flooded with support and kind comments from his followers.

"Martin, there aren't adequate words for you to hear today, but we do care," wrote one. "The pain will never fully go, but eventually you’ll be thankful of that. You'll realise it's your love for him, with no physical vessel to receive it. Learn to hold it to you, & Dad will never be gone."

While another added: "Heartfelt condolences to you and yours Martin. Your Father must have been an incredible man to have shown you how to be such a warm and compassionate human being. He'll have been so proud of you." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
