Martin Odegaard warns Liverpool that Arsenal have changed ahead of huge clash

Martin Odegaard has warned Liverpool that Arsenal have more belief ahead of their mouth-watering Premier League clash on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old pulled the strings in the Gunners' 2-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday and is confident that his teammates can put up a better fight against Jurgen Klopp 's men this time around after losing 4-0 at Anfield earlier in the season.

"We have a very strong belief in the group and play with a lot of confidence," Odegaard told Sky Sports. "We just have to keep going.

"We have a lot of confidence in the team now and everyone believes in what we are doing. We are strong as a team and that is the most important thing."

The match is being billed as a litmus test for Mikel Arteta 's side, as Sky pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink declared: "That match on Wednesday, will show how far they have come against the big sides.

"At the beginning of the season, there was a big gap. Now, we get to see how far they have come and that is their next thing, can they do it against the big teams as well."

Fellow pundit Jamie Redknapp added: "For so often, we have been very critical of Arsenal with their defence, in terms of formation, how they set up and set pieces.

"But now they are brilliantly organised, but it has been about time that they found a real partnership, both in midfield and defence.

"That is what Arsenal fans have been wanting to see for years, and going forward they are very good."

Odegaard's creativity was key to Arsenal's win, earning him an abundance of praise post-match.

"Having that pressure as a 16-year-old, it was seen as a big thing moving to Real Madrid, and young players going to Real Madrid playing in the first-team, they do not get the room to make those mistakes," Hasselbaink explained.

"You do not get that at Real Madrid. He came to Arsenal last year, but he was put in the team and still was given the chance because they believe in him.

"And at the beginning of the season, he was not the player that he is now, but again, he was allowed to make mistakes and as a young player, those mistakes help you grow."

Odegaard could well be a Champions League player next season but the match against Klopp's side could prove pivotal in the race to finish fourth, with Manchester United hot on Arsenal's heels.

Arteta is refusing to get carried away though, stating: "The reality in football is when you start to predict what can happen no-one would get it right - the only thing we can control is our performance.

"We are in a good position but there is still a lot to fight for. Next up is Liverpool - we know how tough it will be but we will try to win it."
