Martin Odegaard believes Arsenal aren’t feeling the pressure of being top of the Premier League going into the World Cup break.
Arsenal have enjoyed a brilliant start to the season and victory over Wolves on Saturday moved them five points clear of Manchester City, who are second in the table.
That result means that the Gunners will be top of the League on Christmas Day for the first time since 2007.
But asked if that was a weight on the team, Odegaard told the BBC: “I have said many times this club needs to be at the top fighting for trophies and fighting to be there at the top.
“That’s where we want to be and of course we are at the moment. But there is a long way to go and we are going to stay humble, keep working hard.
“We still have a lot to improve and we are going to come back even stronger and even more hungry than ever after the break.
“We have to stay calm. We have said it many times, it’s a long way to the end of the season. There are some good teams around us. We will play every game as a final, as we said, and that’s all.”
Odegaard struck twice to fire Arsenal to victory on Saturday night, with both his goals coming in the second-half.
The Norwegian has previously been challenged by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to add more goals to his game and he believes that now the hard work is starting to pay off.
“I think I’m better at coming into those areas now - I attack the box more,” said Odegaard.
“They may not be the most beautiful goals but I’m in the right places and that helps a lot. I’m always happy to help the team with goals.
“It’s a good way to go into the break. We said before the game that we wanted to finish strong and we wanted to bring this good feeling into the break and we did that. We have to come back even stronger and better but at the moment, it’s looking good.”
