Martin Odegaard set for talks over Arsenal contract as Gunners continue proactive approach

Arsenal are preparing for contract talks with Martin Odegaard football.london understands. The Gunners are keen to extend the Norwegian's deal which is currently due to expire in 2025, although there is an option to extend by a further 12 months.

Odegaard joined Arsenal initially on loan from Real Madrid in January 2021, before going on to sign permanently that summer. Following a promising first season in north London he was then named club captain for this campaign after the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Since then he has gone from strength to strength and is the highest scoring midfielder in the Premier League this season with 15 goals, having also grabbed eight assists. Although Arsenal do have plenty of time remaining on the 24-year-old's deal, they are keen to act quickly to offer him terms that are on keeping with his status in the club.

It is also a matter of time before Bukayo Saka's new contract is announced. Meanwhile, talks are still ongoing to extend William Saliba's contract which is due to expire at the end of next season as things stand.
