Martin Odegaard makes Real Madrid and Arsenal comparison after Watford masterclass

Arsenal star Martin Odegaard has admitted that he finally feels like he has found his permanent 'home' after enduring many short-term stays at various clubs during his rocky Real Madrid tenure.

The Gunners were 3-2 winners at Vicarage Road on Sunday afternoon and alongside the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka who were two players that stood out, Odegaard also took the spotlight.

Arsenal's No. 8 is starting to play like more of an eight on a consistent basis after decent performances against Wolves and Brentford and was merited with the well-taken goal he netted in the fifth minute against the Hornets to make it 1-0.

"I think it's between them. The way the game flows, the way we attack, how we adapt our positions relating to each other, how we move the ball," manager Mikel Arteta assessed on the on-field understanding between the Norwegian and Saka.

"The speed of the movement, the timing if it is much better, the position that we get, the threat and the sense of having the capacity to create the chances that we have done is much better and we have to keep developing that."

No doubt there are still rival fans and pundits who do not fully recognise the real emergence of the former Real Madrid player as a real Gunners weapon, just like Mesut Ozil in his early days at the Emirates Stadium.

The 23-year-old not only left Paul Merson red faced with his latest performance in Hertfordshire but also was quick to shut down any Ozil comparisons despite taking it as a 'big compliment.'

Now, he has came out and discussed a turbulent football career that has seen spells at many clubs, including Real Madrid and Real Sociedad over the years, that will satisfy the Gunners faithful who are really starting to warm towards one of their main creators on the pitch.

Asked by the PA news agency via BT Sport if he now felt more settled than ever, Odegaard replied: “Yes, definitely.

“I feel like I’m home now. I have had time to settle down – for the last five years I’ve been all over the place with loans here and there.

“So I feel like I’ve finally got that stability and the calmness I needed. So I’m really happy, yes.”

Odegaard next has a chance to show how much he has settled into English life when Leicester come to the capital on Sunday in another must-win game for Arsenal if they are to keep their advantage in the top four race over Spurs and Man United.
