Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has revealed that he would have loved to play alongside Gunners legend Thierry Henry. The French forward, who spent nine seasons in north London over two spells, scored 175 Premier League goals for Arsenal winning six major trophies with the club.
While Henry was the talisman of Arsenal in the early 2000s, Odegaard has seemingly taken on that role in the current Arsenal team, with the 23-year-old the clubs Premier League top scorer this season with six goals.
Odegaard, who was appointed Arsenal captain at the start of the season, has been a hugely important figure both on the pitch and the dressing room for Arsenal, and he is the source of a lot of the attacking joy Arsenal have had this season.

While his country Norway are not in the 2022 World Cup, which means he and his national team-mate and Manchester City star Erling Haaland is set for a six-week break from competitive football. Odegaard was in action in a friendly against the Republic of Ireland, where he got an assist in a 2-1 victory.
Mikel Arteta challenged Odegaard to score more goals at the start of the season, and he has more than responded, but his assists tally have dried up somewhat so far this season, however, if he had former Arsenal star Henry, who he named as the player from Arsenal's past he would have wanted to play alongside, his assists tally would be much higher.
When asked by Josh Denzel, on Around the Block on BT Sport, about which former Gunners player he would have wanted to play alongside, Odegaard showed zero hesitation in naming Henry.
"I'd have to say,Thierry Henry, for sure," Odegaard said. "I'd just give him the ball, and he would score. You give him the ball in midfield, and he would score.
Odegaard also went on to talk about his relationship with Arsenal as a child before he joined the club on loan from Real Madrid in January 2021 before signing permanently in the summer of the same year.
He added: "I watched Arsenal a lot. To be honest, I was a little bit of a supporter when I was younger because my best mate was a big Arsenal fan, so we always watched the games, and I enjoyed watching Arsenal."
