Martin Odegaard has explained the key qualities that Jorginho has brought to Arsenal since his deadline day move from Chelsea. The Gunners have put their slight wobble behind them in recent weeks securing back-to-back Premier League wins against Aston Villa and Leicester.
The Italian midfielder delivered another assured performance against the Foxes, one week on from his wonder strike that led directly to Arsenal's late winner over Villa. At the time, his signing was questioned but the injury issues plaguing Thomas Partey recently has proven it was another smart transfer from Mikel Arteta and Edu.
Following the victory at King Power Stadium, Odegaard was full of praise for the January signings made by the club, particularly Jorginho, with both having now significantly impacted results for Arsenal.

“[They're] great guys, they bring a lot of good things to the team,” said Odegaard. "Jorginho especially has a lot of experience. He’s won a lot of things, brings that mentality into the team and helps the young players. It’s great to have him on board.
“He’s a great player, we saw that from the first day when he came here. He brings a lot of quality, he’s very calm on the ball, finds the right passes and dictates the game. He’s nice to play with."
Up next for the league leaders is a home clash against Everton on Wednesday and the game is of great significance for the Gunners for two main reasons. Firstly, it is the game in hand that Arsenal hold over Manchester City where a win would open a five-point gap to their title rivals.
The reverse fixture is also one of only two league games Arsenal have lost this season. Following the loss, the Gunners drew their next game against Brentford before City left Emirates Stadium with all three points the week after.
Asked if that defeat to the Toffees can be used as fuel on Wednesday, the Norway international said: “That’s motivation of course. The game we had there, the performance, everyone was really upset. We want to show a different side on Wednesday and get another three points.
“As we’ve said many times we want to win all the games we play. It’s not really something special because it’s a game in hand, another game we want to win and looking forward to it.
“That’s the focus we have to have when we win and lose. We say it after each game. We had a few disappointing results but just came back and did the same thing as when we won. We have to keep that focus, work hard every day and take it step by step. Then we’ll see.”
