Martin Odegaard: Arsenal captain on track to end injury-hit spell and return vs Brentford

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is on track to make his comeback against Brentford this weekend.

Odegaard has missed the Gunners last three games due to concussion protocols after being hit in the face by a ball in training.

The midfielder was duly left out of the Norway squad for this international break ahead of their games with the Faroe Island and Scotland.

Odegaard has also been managing a hip issue and it was decided he would be best served fully recovering at Arsenal.

The 24-year-old worked on his recovery last week at Arsenal with those players not called up by their countries.

Players were then given the weekend off by manager Mikel Arteta and Odegaard took the opportunity to return to Norway.

He visited his family and went to see his international teammates, before returning to Arsenal to step up his recovery this week.

Arsenal are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Brentford and they will hope to have Odegaard available.

The Gunners also want to have Gabriel Jesus in the squad as he is back in full training with Brazil and in contention to start their World Cup qualifier against Argentina.

Jesus has not played for Arsenal since October 24, when he injured his hamstring in a 2-1 win over Sevilla in the Champions League.

But he was nevertheless called up by Brazil and, after missing their 2-1 defeat in Colombia last week, could start the match against Argentina in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday night.
