Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey send top four warning to Manchester United after Arsenal win

Arsenal duo Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey have reaffirmed their confidence in clinching a top four finish, as they overtook Manchester United in the race for Champions League qualification.

An early Partey strike and a penalty from Alexandre Lacazette saw Mikel Arteta's side regain fourth spot after United had occupied the position after beating Tottenham 3-2. The Gunners still have three games in hand over United as a point separates the two sides.

Spurs, who were downed by Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick on Saturday, sit six points off the Champions League places with two games in hand. Wins for West Ham and Wolves on Sunday saw them keep the heat on in the race for Europe, currently sitting three and five points off respectively.

Arsenal host Liverpool on Wednesday where they will be looking to extend the gap to four points. Speaking after the match Odegaard told Sky Sports: "We have very strong belief in the group, we play with a lot of confidence at the moment, we have to keep going.

"We've said it many times, take it game by game, keep improving and we'll see but we're happy where we are at the moment. We have a lot of confidence in the team, I think everyone believes in what we're doing but we have to keep going, keep improving and see where it takes us.

Partey added: "We have a couple of difficult games coming, almost all are difficult, we have to go game by game and that's the mentality of the team. We have to keep improving and that's our mentality now."
