Martin Lewis has called on the UK Government to outline its support for non-mains gas customers struggling to pay their energy bills. Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, the Money Saving Expert founder asked minister of state Gillian Keegan about the government's latest announcement on the energy crisis.
The plans being announced on Wednesday will see gas and electricity costs for UK businesses, charities and public sector bodies capped this winter in a bid to help struggling firms cope with rising costs this winter. But households on LPG, heating oil, park home residents, those on central heating schemes and people in Northern Ireland are still awaiting details on how Liz Truss' plan to cap bills announced earlier this month will help them.
Questioning Ms Keegan, Mr Lewis said: "There are many other people waiting for announcements. The people in Northern Ireland haven't heard anything, although that was promised. People on LPG and heating oil fuel haven't heard what's coming, people in park homes and on central heating plans. Will we hear all of those energy announcements today?"

Mr Lewis said he wouldn't ask what those announcements would be before they happened but that he wanted to "manage expectations" for those groups on what they could expect to hear on Wednesday. However Ms Keegan said she couldn't confirm if those details would be given, saying: "We have said that we will put in place a scheme for all of those, obviously Northern Ireland and also the park homes etc. What they'll be doing is working out how to put those schemes in place.
"It's very simple to say what we're going to do. What you need to do is work out ways that you can do that and whether you can do that that also protects taxpayers' money as well. So I can't give you the answer to that question, but if it isn't fully addressed today, it will just be because they'll still be working out the details. It's full intention to make sure we protect people in those situations as well."
Mr Lewis said he'd been getting messages from people on non-mains gas "every day" asking for updates and asked the minister if the government could get in touch about when to expect announcements for those groups, to which Ms Keegan said her colleagues would be "happy to continue that dialogue."
