Martin Lewis says face is 'monstrously swollen' as he provides health update amid TV absence

Martin Lewis has revealed he won't be doing any television or radio while he recovers from dental surgery. The founder of MoneySavingExpert has provided his 1.5m followers with a health update after undergoing a procedure.

On Friday, June 17, Martin explained: "Slightly dreading this pm. Having implant drilled into the bone of my front top tooth. Was meant to happen 6mths ago but bone graft didn't take well so had to wait.

"It's going be deep so not fun. I'm signing off now, may bow out of media next week if face swells."

And in an update on Monday, June 20, Martin thanked fans for messages and said while pain management was going well his upper lip and left eye were still pretty swollen. He wrote: "Ta for all the kind messages. Wasn't a pleasant experience, but thru it now.

"Pain management is going well, tho my upper lip is monstrously swollen, so speaking isn't easy and my left eye has swollen too. I'm back to work today, but obviously no TV/radio."

Martin often appears on ITV's Good Morning Britain and This Morning to answer viewers' questions on finances. The consumer champion also makes regular appearances on BBC Radio 5 Live.

On Tuesday, June 21, Martin provided a further update and said he'd woken up with an "even more swollen face than before" but reassured fans that all was going well. Writing on Twitter he said: "Thanks for all the concerned comments about getting it checked.

"Don't worry I'm in contact with the surgeon and was warned swelling would peak on day three and could last 10 days. All is going well, just frustrating." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
