Money saving expert Martin Lewis revealed he teared up after hearing a story regarding someone's neighbour. One man tagged both Martin and Susanna Reid in a touching story following her interview on GMB with Boris Johnson.
Martin responded to the man's tweet admitting that it had left him tearful. The 49-year-old said that the story regarding the Cost of Living crisis was both 'wretched' and 'sweet'.
Mr Lewis said: "My eyes rimmed with tears after reading this. This is both wretched and sweet in equal measure." This was in response to Jan Townsy's tweet which said: "The old fella who lives next door to me goes to our shopping centre and sits there until it closes, he takes a flask and sandwiches and sits in front of the local TV shop they even put his channel on for him and fill his flask."

It wasn't long before other people started responding to the tweet sharing their own experiences regarding the Cost of Living crisis or situations of people they know. One person replied: "That is just sadness to hear - what about community places paid for by local authorities so that old folk who are able to look after themselves but can't afford the comforts the wealthy can, can come together, meet up, watch tv and perhaps be fed a warm meal per day?"
Kyon5Bx added: "My grandma is coming to live with me soon. She lives in rented accommodation for over 50’s but can no longer afford the rent, bills & food on just her pension. She can’t claim any benefits as apparently she has too much pension. No one can live off £600 per month with no help!!"
While Twitter user Janet added: "This is so sad and unfair. Libraries used to have this function, but never as much as today, and they’re closing. If energy VAT was slashed the govt would not lose money compared to before the price hike. They are having a tax windfall which Sunak can end."
'Sir Dave' said: "It's the Conservative government's fault - we are the 6th richest country in the world but have one of the lowest pensions in Europe that starts at one of the highest age levels. It's a political choice."
The thread of tweets follows from a clip of Susanna Reid speaking to the Prime Minister on the Cost of Living Crisis. She then spoke about one 77-year-old viewer called Elsie who eats one meal a day and stays on the bus all day to avoid using energy at home.
Grilling the Prime Minister, Susanna asked Mr Johnson 'what else' should Elsie cut back on following comments he had previously made. Responding, Mr Johnson said: "I don't want Elsie to cut back."
