Martin Lewis issues urgent Tesco two-week warning to all shoppers

Martin Lewis has issued a two week warning to Tesco shoppers at risk of losing out on their vouchers.

The consumer champion appeared alongside Susanna Reid during Wednesday morning's episode of Good Morning Britain to give viewers some money saving and financial advice.

And the Money Saving Expert founder detailed some important dates just around the corner that may be of concern to anyone who shops in Tesco. The financial guru explained that £15million worth of Tesco Clubcard vouchers are set to expire in a matter of weeks, meaning customers are at risk of losing out.

Martin Lewis is urging people to check online whether they have any vouchers that are due to expire, sharing some tips that may allow people to extend their perks.

The supermarket giant is reducing its Clubcard Reward perk from the end of this month. Currently, shoppers can trade in a voucher for three times the amount such as getting a £15 voucher for £5. However, this is set to reduce to double the amount by May 31.

The financial guru issued the warning on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday (ITV)

However, Martin explained a little trick shoppers could use: "You go online, spend 50p on a restaurant voucher of your £10. So you now have got £1.50 of your restaurant voucher because 50p becomes £1.50.

"For the rest of the £9.50 they re-issue and it lasts another two years. So if you spend just a little bit of a voucher the rest of it is reissued and it last another two years. But otherwise the older vouchers become invalid on May 31."
