Martin Lewis has issued a word of warning to anyone who holds a UK passport. The money-saving expert urged that there is just one day left before a big change comes into force which is expected to affect many Brits who are wanting to go abroad this year.
The financial guru often takes to Twitter to give his 2.1 million followers money-saving tips, advice and updates in any matter from mortgages and interest rates to the best savings accounts.
But on February 1, Martin warned his fans that they need to 'urgently check their passport end date now' to see when it expires. Martin advised that UK passports need to have at least six months left on it when you travel, otherwise you may not be able to go abroad.

The founder of Money Saving Expert then added that there is just one day left to do this before the cost of renewing your passport goes up.
Martin tweeted: "Urgently check your passport end date now (for safety you want at least six months left when you travel) as NEW PASSPORT PRICES RISE TOMORROW."
He then shared a link to his helpful Money Saving Expert site which explained his warning in more detail.
It read: "If you're planning a trip abroad this year, check your passport's still valid – and, if it's out of date, renew it now – as application fees are due to rise by about 9% tomorrow (Thursday 2 February)."
The current fee for an adult renewing their passport online is £75.50, but from tomorrow, this will increase to £82.50.
To renew a child's passport online it costs £49 at the moment, but this will go up to £53.50 from February 2.
If you're an adult who is renewing their passport in paper form, this will cost £93 from tomorrow which has gone up from £85. For a child, this will now cost £64 having risen from £58.50.
A fast track service is also available, with a turnaround of one week, which will now cost £155 as opposed to £142.
Renewing a child's passport through the fast track service will go up from £122 to £126 from tomorrow.
For those needing a super-fast turnaround, a premium same-day service is also available which will cost £193.50 from Feb 2 onwards, which has gone up from £177.
The Money Saving Expert website added: "Whether you're getting your first passport, renewing an old one, changing your name or personal details, or getting a passport for your child, the cheapest way to do so is through the Gov.uk website, if you're happy and able to use the online service."
