Martin Lewis issues urgent Christmas travel advice and how to save money

Martin Lewis has shared urgent advice to people planning to travel home this December for the holidays amid the cost of living crisis.

The MoneySavingExpert founder returned for another episode of The Martin Lewis Money Show this week. The latest instalment was about savings advice.

As reported by the Liverpool ECHO, though, Lewis ended the show by offering five broader tips to everyone looking to save ahead of Christmas.

With the festive season rapidly approaching, people across Scotland and the UK will be thinking about travelling across the country to see loved ones.

According to Lewis, if you are planning to travel by train this Christmas, you should consider buying a ticket as soon as possible.

He stated: "Now is the time to start booking them because generally 12 weeks before travel is when they release tickets.

"When they release tickets is when most of the cheaper super advanced type fares are available so it's easier to get a cheap ticket.

We're around 12 weeks now and over the next couple of weeks they'll be releasing the tickets so if you're travelling have a look out for that one."

In the episode, Lewis also revealed that those with inactive savings must act fast, stating: "Forget riding the market. Take the fire and the passion you've got hopefully from listening to me right now tell you that you are being ripped off and just go and sort it now."
