Martin Lewis has sent out a scam warning to anyone due to receive the £150 disability cost of living payment from the Government.
The consumer guru is asking people not to be tricked by fraudsters contacting them and telling them they need to apply for the one-off payment. Martin told viewers of his Money Show Live that the lump sum will be paid automatically by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) directly into the bank accounts of those who are eligible by July 4. Nobody needs to apply for the cash.
Martin said: “Beware scammers, anyone telling you you need to click to apply is a scammer. Do not do it. If you don’t get it and you think you should, YOU go to GOV.UK where from July 5 there will be a portal.”

He added: “Anyone contacting you, asking you to click, be careful - very likely a scammer.” The DWP announced on Tuesday that it plans to have paid 99% of those already eligible for the financial support by the end of Monday, June 26, but payments will continue until July 4, reports the Daily Record.
More than six million people claiming disability benefits, including Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Adult Disability Payment and Attendance Allowance, will receive money which will appear on accounts and statements as a ‘Bank Giro Credit’ with the claimant’s National Insurance number followed by ‘DWP COL’.
Some 3.2m people have already received the payment, according to the latest information on GOV.UK here.
