Martin Lewis has GMB fans in tears with emotional goodbye as he announces break from show

Martin Lewis had Good Morning Britain viewers in tears as he left them with an emotional final message.

The Money Saving Expert confirmed he wouldn't be back on the show until March as he would be busy filming his own show after the festive break, but he had one final message for viewers ahead of the end of the year. Viewers confessed they were in tears as Martin had a sweet tribute to all viewers, but especially those who felt isolated and lonely this time of year.

Martin regularly appears as a guest presenter on Good Morning Britain, and has been using his time on the show to help support people with their consumer questions amid a cost of living crisis.

He confirmed he'd be back on the programme next year sometime - but it was a parting message that left fans in tears.

"To those of you who will be going through grief and loneliness this Christmas, may you have more smiles than you are expecting. May you have more joy than you are expecting. I just hope you get through it and you get through it easily," he said.

Kate looked moved by his comment, before she also issued a thank you to him.

She held his arm as she said: "And can I just say, thank you to you. You've really helped a lot of people this year as you always do and we wish you a Merry Christmas as well as I'm sure Lorraine does too."

Fans rushed to social media to thank Martin, admitting they were in tears following his sweet message.

"Well Martin Lewis just made my eyes fill up #gmb #MartinLewis @MartinSLewis," one penned, as another added: "I swear @MartinSLewis moves me to tears every time I see him. Such a lovely human being. #gmb."

Earlier this summer, Martin signed up for a special Monday show to help people by hosting live phone-ins.

Martin said at the time: "I’ve been the Money Saving Expert for over 20 years – and in that time I’ve never seen anything like the cost of living crisis hitting the nation today, focused around the sickening rises in energy bills.

"Millions of families risk being forced into poverty by it. Sadly right now the best I can hope to offer many of those families is damage limitation, only the politicians have the power to provide actual solutions. So sitting alongside Susanna each Monday, I'm glad GMB is giving us a dual purpose of practical help and holding power to account."

Susanna added: "I'm delighted to have Martin by my side on Mondays tackling such an important issue head on. People are being forced to make impossible decisions and may not know where to turn, so tune in for some advice, support and hope."
