Martin Lewis forced to correct himself after Good Morning Britain viewers point out 'awkward' live blunder

Martin Lewis was back at the helm of Good Morning Britain on Wednesday (May 17) to give his expert advice - but it appeared an awkward slip of the tongue didn't go unnoticed by viewers.

The Money Saving Expert appeared on the ITV news programme alongside Susanna Reid to host Wallet Wednesday, a special edition of the breakfast show which sees Martin takes questions from the public in a bid to help people save money during the cost-of-living crisis.

In today's instalment, the financial journalist revealed that £19bn benefits go unclaimed each year as he warned of an upcoming deadline for those entitled to pension credit and told viewers how you can receive a discount on your water bill.

But ahead of the warnings and expert money-saving advice, Martin had a 'simple' maths question for viewers to start the day.

As the show kicked off at 6am, Martin asked: "There are two pizza deals, one is two 10 inch pizzas for £10, or one 15 inch pizza for £10, which is the better deal in terms of which gives you more pizza?".

Martin and Susanna let viewers dwell over the maths teaser for the majority of the programme, before coming back to it towards the end of the show.

Susanna asked: "Have you had any success with our maths teaser this morning? It's national numeracy day," before repeating the question.

She then read out a viewer's response: "It's a no brainer, the two 10 inch pizzas as I can have one for lunch tomorrow because cold pizza is the best."

Martin then delivered the answer with the help of Laura Tobin as they explained the Pi theory and stated: "The 15 inch pizza has a bigger surface area."

He then said: "But the circumference is bigger on the two 10 inch so if you like stuffed crutch, then you might want to go for the two 10 inch. But on area it would be the 15 inch pizza that is better value because you get more."

The maths question puzzled viewers (ITV)

But his slight slip-up was quickly picked up by GMB viewers as they took to Twitter to laugh at his mistake.

@sarahjames2525 tweeted: "Did Martin Lewis say “we love a stuffed crotch “ when talking about the pizza, I think he meant stuffed crust.

@Toby_Beaver added: "Did Martin Lewis say stuffed crutch when talking about Pizza this morning?".

After seeing the comments and realising his mistake, Martin was forced to take to his own Twitter account to clear up the awkard error.

Speaking to his 2.2 million Twitter followers, he wrote: "Just to clarify I meant stuffed crust not stuffed crutch!!!!!".

Viewers then laughed at his response.

@angelagardener2 wrote: "That's a classic that is," alongside several laughing face emojis.

@ukWazzatee said: "If I had a quid for every time I've made that mistake."

@Lucy65779856 added: "I did wonder!!!," as @Toddpodd laughed: "We all heard it."
