Martin Lewis fights back tears as he relates to Prince Harry on GMB

Martin Lewis became emotional during Wednesday's instalment of Good Morning Britain as footage of Princess Diana's funeral was shown.

Martin was back at the show's helm for the week's third GMB, alongside co-host Susanna Reid. The broadcasting team has been reunited for a number of episodes this month as the UK faces another economic crisis.

Shock forecasts have predicted energy bills will continue to soar, with an expected energy price cap above £5,000 in April 2023.

While today's episode discussed the crisis somewhat, it was dominated by extensive coverage of the Royal Family in the wake of Queen Elizabeth II's passing. One segment showed a clip of Prince William and Prince Harry walking behind the coffin of their late mother, Princess Diana.

Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997. At the time, William was 15, and Harry just 12.

As footage from her funeral was shown, Martin became clearly emotional. He told viewers: "Resonates very powerfully with me as someone who lost his mother at the same age Harry was at the time, in a road accident.

"I find it very difficult to watch. Thank goodness I wasn't forced to walk behind [the funeral procession], I didn't even go." He then turned to Susanna as he was unable to say anything further.

Fans were quick to offer their support on social media. Taking to Twitter, Danny D said: "Oh I feel for Martin Lewis right now", while Jules Barnell said: "Well done Martin Lewis, a tough couple of minutes for you".

Steph said: "My heart goes out to @MartinSLewis , losing a parent at such a young age #GMB".
