Martin Lewis fans rush to buy Amazon's energy gadget that's now on sale

With the Amazon Spring Sale in its final day, there are major savings to be had on hundreds of must-have items. One particular product on offer could help shoppers save money on their monthly household bills.

Online giant Amazon began slashing prices across everything from tech to beauty on Monday, March 27. The sale features a number of Amazon devices - including an energy-saving gadget that featured on the Martin Lewis website MoneySavingExpert.com.

The clever gadget lets shoppers find out which devices around the house are using the most energy.

Amazon's Smart Home Starter Kit, which is now down from £79.98 to £41.99, is made up of two gadgets that monitor energy consumption. The bundle includes a smart plug and the latest-generation Echo Dot, allowing you to control any device with voice activation.

Smart plugs are available to buy individually on the Amazon site, including the 'Amazon Smart Plug' that's down to just £14.99 in the retailer's Spring Sale. The Amazon smart plug can connect to your Alexa or Echo Dot to monitor and keep track of plug-in home devices.

The £41.99 Smart Home Starter Kit is ideal for those who don't already have a smart speaker or smart plug, plus you'll be saving nearly 50% if you buy it today.

Money-saving guru Martin Lewis and the team at his MoneySavingExpert website featured smart plugs in their energy-saving tips checklist, so it comes as no surprise that Amazon shoppers have been rushing to buy them.

One person called the Amazon Smart Plug an "excellent piece of kit".

Another shopper said: "So pleased with this smart plug. It has been a godsend as bedroom lamp is not next to bed and by asking Alexa to turn plug on she does and lamp turns on. Once in bed by saying Alexa turn plug off the lamp goes off - job done."
